News Capsule: Uttar Pradesh: Gunny Bag Procurement Tenders Issued
★ The Food and Civil Supplies Department of Uttar Pradesh has issued tenders for the procurement of gunny bags, as rising prices are increasing the cost of crop procurement.
★ Under the tender, previously used gunny bags will be purchased. A total of 25,000 bags have been allocated.
★ Similar tenders are being issued across most procurement states, pushing gunny bag (baradana) prices to peak levels. In some states, tenders have even been cancelled due to high prices.
★ The rise in gunny bag prices is not only increasing wheat procurement costs but is also impacting other crops such as pulses, oilseeds, paddy, sugar, spices, and dry fruits.
