According to the Export Inspections data for the week ended February 26, corn shipments totaled 1.858 million metric tons (73.17 million bushels). This was down 8% from the previous week, but still the third-largest weekly shipment this year and 37.41% higher than the same week last year. Mexico was the top destination at 521,921 MT, followed by South Korea at 269,686 MT and Japan at 221,965 MT. Marketing year shipments have reached 39.619 MMT (1.56 billion bushels), up 42.29% year-on-year.
According to the USDA’s NASS Grain Crushing report, 460.95 million bushels of corn were used for ethanol production in January, below market estimates. This was 1.49% lower than last year and down 4.5% from December’s revised total.
AgRural reported that Brazil’s first corn crop harvest is 36% complete, lagging behind last year’s 46% pace. The second crop in the center-south region is 66% planted, below the 80% pace in 2025. Safras & Mercado estimated Brazil’s corn production at 141.71 MMT, down 1.17 MMT from its previous estimate. StoneX, however, raised its estimate by 0.5 MMT to 136 MMT.
