According to CFTC data released Friday, as of September 1, managed money’s net long position in corn futures and options increased to a record 431,062 contracts. This was an increase of 54,549 contracts, driven by both short covering and an increase in long positions.
According to USDA Export Sales data released Thursday, old-crop corn export commitments have reached 86.93 million metric tons, up 24% from the same period last year. This represents 101% of the USDA export projection and is in line with the average pace. New-crop corn export commitments stand at 14.443 million metric tons, which is 30.9% higher than the same period last year. This represents 17.4% of the current USDA projection for 2026/27.
According to Brazil’s August export data, total corn shipments reached 4.655 million metric tons in August. This was significantly higher than the previous month but 32.03% lower than August 2025.
