Sugar mills will be allowed to sell sugar—produced up to November 15, 2026—in excess of their prescribed sales quota.
The Central Government has granted permission for additional sales by sugar mills for the first fortnight of November 2026. According to the Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD), sugar mills may sell sugar produced up to November 15, 2026, over and above the sales quota allocated for the first fortnight of November.
This authorization applies to all sugar mills that commenced crushing operations in October 2026 or are beginning them in November 2026.
The government noted that sugar mills that began crushing in October 2026 have already been granted permission to sell the sugar produced during that month in November.
This decision will provide an opportunity for sugar mills—including those newly commencing crushing operations—to sell additional quantities of sugar.
