New Delhi. Currently, the prices of Kalonji are being quoted at a high rate. However, the arrival of new goods has already started in the markets of the production centers. Kalonji is mainly produced in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. During the current season, the production of Kalonji in Gujarat will be more than last year, but there are reports of less production in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

Production Estimate

Mr. Sanjay Rupalia of the famous and reliable establishment of Gondal, Shree G Global FMCG Ltd. says that during the current season, there are reports of Kalonji production in Gujarat doubling compared to last year, but there are estimates of less production in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Sanjay G believes that this time the production of Kalonji in Gujarat will be 1.25 lakh bags, and there are reports of production in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan being around 1 lakh bags. It is noteworthy that during the year 2024, the production of Kalonji in the country was 2.25/2.50 lakh bags, while in the year 2023, the production was 3.50/4 lakh bags.

Arrival

Currently, there is a record arrival of Kalonji in Gondal, Rajkot Mandi of Gujarat, but despite this, prices have increased by Rs 1.50/2 per 20 kg today. According to the information received, the arrival of Kalonji in Rajkot was 3000 bags, while in Gondal, the arrival was heard to be of 2500 bags. Due to high arrival, pending goods also remain in the markets. Today, the price of Kalonji in Gondal and Rajkot Mandi has been quoted at Rs 160/185 with a rise of Rs 8/10 per kg. Now in Neemuch Mandi of Madhya Pradesh, the price of Kalonji has been quoted at Rs 165/192 with a rise of Rs 7/8 per kg.

Slowdown-Rise

Knowledgeable sources believe that if there is pressure of arrival in the coming days, then the current prices of Kalonji may fall by 5/8 rupees. A more slowdown than this is not possible. Because in the coming days, the purchases of pickle makers will also increase in the market. Also, during the month of May, the arrivals in the markets will also start decreasing. However, market sources believe that during the current season, the prices of Kalonji may touch the level of the year 2014. In the year 2014, the record price of Kalonji was 290/300 rupees. I Grain India believes that a rise of 40/50 rupees per kg in the current prices of Kalonji is certain. Because the total availability will be less compared to the consumption. Apart from the production of about 2/2.50 lakh bags in the current season, the total availability was 2.50/2.75 lakh bags including the outstanding stock of 25/30 thousand bags. Whereas for export and local consumption, about 3.50/3.75 lakh bags are required annually. Due to which the future of Kalonji will be good.
