According to the USDA Export Sales report for the week ending June 18, wheat export sales totaled 504,489 metric tons. This was 25.86% higher than the previous week and nearly double the volume recorded during the same week last year. Mexico was the leading buyer with 204,400 metric tons, followed by Japan with 118,700 metric tons.
The International Grains Council’s monthly report increased its 2026/27 global wheat production forecast by 1 million metric tons to 821 million metric tons. New-crop global ending stocks were reduced by 2 million metric tons to 280 million metric tons, while old-crop stocks were also lowered by 2 million metric tons to 286 million metric tons.
According to the European Commission, EU wheat ending stocks for 2026/27 are projected at 13.8 million metric tons, down 0.3 million metric tons from the previous estimate. Wheat production was also revised lower by 0.6 million metric tons to 126.3 million metric tons.
