New Basmati Rice Prices Increase - Rice Prices Slightly Soft
New Delhi. While harvesting and supply of new Basmati Rice (1509) for the current Kharif season has already begun, the arrival of regular or non-Basmati Rice may take some time. In Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, coarse rice arrivals usually begin in the first week of October.
Delhi
According to available data, during the week of September 20-26, paddy arrivals at Delhi's Narela Mandi increased from 40,000 bags to 80,000 bags, and prices for 1509 hand and combine harvesters improved slightly. Millers and processors are showing some interest in purchasing it. A good supply of paddy has also begun in Delhi's Najafgarh Mandi.
Chhattisgarh
Daily arrivals of 4,000-5,000 bags of paddy were reported at Bhatpara Mandi in Chhattisgarh and 2,500-5,000 bags at Rajim Mandi, but prices did not fluctuate significantly amid normal trading.
Punjab/Uttar Pradesh
Markets like Amritsar and Tarn Taran in Punjab, Etah, Mainpuri, Jahangirabad, Shahjahanpur, Aligarh, and Khair in Uttar Pradesh have seen large arrivals of paddy, leading to some price fluctuations.
Haryana
Paddy supplies have also begun to increase in Tarawadi, Haryana, but prices are experiencing some pressure. The supply of both Basmati and non-Basmati rice is expected to increase in all major markets from next month.
Rice
As for rice, prices are fluctuating based on demand from domestic traders and exporters. In Bhatpara, the price of Shri Ram rice increased by Rs. 100 to Rs. 6200/6300 per quintal.
Karnataka
Rice prices remained largely stable in Karnataka's Raichur market, but some varieties declined by Rs. 150-200 per quintal. In Amritsar, the price of 1509 steamed rice also declined by Rs. 150 per quintal.
Uttarakhand
On the other hand, in Uttarakhand's Nagar market, the price of 1509 steamed and 1509 Sela rice increased by Rs. 200 each to Rs. 6900 per quintal and Rs. 6300 per quintal, respectively.
Rajasthan/Haryana
In Rajasthan's Bundi market, the price of 1509 rice declined by Rs. 175 to Rs. 6050/6100 per quintal. In Haryana's benchmark Karnal market, prices of most varieties and grades of rice remained stable at previous levels due to limited trading.
Delhi
Rice prices in Delhi's Naya Bazaar fluctuated by Rs 100 per quintal.
