Mustard Prices Rise Amid Increased Buying at Lower Levels
New Delhi: A robust influx of new mustard arrivals has commenced in key markets across all major producing states, and traders as well as oil millers are demonstrating keen interest in procuring the crop. The markets remain bustling with activity. The Minimum Support Price (MSP) for mustard has been revised upward from ₹5,950 to ₹6,200 per quintal; however, in some markets, actual prices have dipped below this level.
42% Condition Mustard
Bolstered by improved buying support during the week of March 7–13, the price of 42% condition mustard witnessed a recovery of ₹50 in Delhi, reaching ₹6,550 per quintal. Similarly, in Jaipur, prices rose by ₹100 to touch ₹6,850 per quintal.
Gujarat
Prices for mustard of average quality recorded an upward trend across various states: a rise of ₹100 to ₹350 per quintal in Gujarat; ₹50 to ₹300 per quintal in Haryana; ₹50 to ₹200 per quintal in Madhya Pradesh; and ₹50 to ₹100 per quintal in Uttar Pradesh.
Rajasthan
In the markets of Rajasthan, mustard prices generally firmed up by ₹150 to ₹300 per quintal; however, prices softened by ₹150 per quintal in Nevai and Tonk. A recovery of ₹100 per quintal was recorded in Kolkata.
Mustard Oil / *Kacchi Ghani
Following the rise in mustard seed prices, the rates for both Expeller-pressed and *Kacchi Ghani* (cold-pressed) mustard oil also increased by ₹3 to ₹5 per kilogram. In Delhi, the price of Expeller-pressed oil rose by ₹40 to reach ₹1,390 per 10 kilograms, while in Ludhiana, it increased by ₹50 to stand at ₹1,405 per 10 kilograms. Surprisingly, in Kota, the price of *Kacchi Ghani* mustard oil dropped by ₹48, settling at ₹1,382 per 10 kg. In other centers, however, mustard oil prices remained firm.
Mustard Cake (DOC)
Robust demand from buyers was observed for mustard cake and DOC, resulting in a significant surge in prices.
