Mustard prices soften as new crop arrivals gain momentum

New Delhi. Arrivals of new mustard, the most important oilseed crop of the Rabi season, are gradually increasing in important markets in some states, while trade and mill demand remains lower than normal.
Decline
As a result, mustard prices generally declined by ₹100-₹200 per quintal during the week of February 14-20, while prices in Khairthal, Rajasthan, fell by ₹400 to ₹6300/₹6350 per quintal.
42% Conditioned Mustard
The price of 42% conditioned mustard fell by ₹150 to ₹6700 per quintal in Delhi and by ₹200 to ₹6800 per quintal in Jaipur.
Mustard
The price of ordinary average quality mustard seeds also fell by Rs. 295 in Dhanera Mandi, Rs. 275 in Charkhi Dadri, Rs. 425 in Bharatpur, and Rs. 200 in Alwar. Mustard prices also fell sharply in other markets in Rajasthan. The arrival of new produce is gaining momentum in this major mustard-producing state, and some improvement in production is expected there.
Uttar Pradesh
Mustard prices fell by Rs. 200 and Rs. 90 per quintal in Hapur and Agra markets of Uttar Pradesh, respectively, and the price of mustard seeds in Kolkata fell by Rs. 300 per quintal.
Mustard Oil
The fall in mustard prices also led to a decline of Rs. 4-6 per kg in the price of mustard oil. Expeller prices in Delhi fell by Rs. 45 to Rs. 1390 per 10 kg, and crude oil prices in Morena fell by Rs. 60 to Rs. 1370 per 10 kg. In Kota, the price of crude mustard oil fell by Rs 105 to Rs 1,365 per 10 kg. Prices of expeller-cooked and crude mustard oil also declined in other centers.
Mustard Cake (DOC)
Trading in mustard cake/DOC remained weak, leading to a softening trend. Domestic and export demand is not strong.
