Masoor Market Stable Amidst Sluggish Buying and Limited Selling

Mumbai: An atmosphere of stability prevailed in the Masoor market throughout the current week. With both buying and selling activities remaining sluggish, no significant fluctuations were observed in prices. Dal mills are procuring supplies strictly according to their immediate requirements, thereby keeping the market balanced. According to traders, arrivals of Masoor in producing *mandis* (markets) remain lower than normal, as production estimates for the current season are already projected to be weak. Due to these limited arrivals, there is no downward pressure building in the market, which is, in turn, providing support to prices. On the other hand, demand for Masoor from major consuming states—such as Bihar, West Bengal, and Assam—has remained consistent. Given the signs of improving domestic demand, there is a possibility of a slight firming in the market. *iGrain India* opines that if arrivals remain limited and demand persists in the coming days, a marginal recovery in Masoor prices could be witnessed. Due to sluggish demand, no price fluctuations were observed in imported Masoor this week. Consequently, prices remained stable at the following levels: Canadian Masoor at ₹5,900; Hazira origin at ₹5,950; Containerized Canadian Masoor at ₹6,150; and Australian Masoor at ₹6,150 per quintal.
Canada
In the final week of April, prices in the international market witnessed an upward trend driven by strong demand for Red Lentils. According to trade sources, processors and exporters are facing difficulties in sourcing adequate supplies to meet their requirements due to limited availability. Exports of Red Lentils from Canada have remained consistently robust throughout the current marketing season. Export performance during the January-to-April 2026 period was strong, with the export volume for the month of April reportedly reaching its second-highest level since 2021.
Delhi

Madhya Pradesh
Due to sluggish consumer demand, neither a rise nor a fall was observed in Madhya Pradesh's Masoor (red lentil) prices this week.
