Gram prices continue to fluctuate due to limited demand

New Delhi. Due to sluggish demand, gram prices witnessed marginal fluctuations during the current week as well. Due to lack of demand for gram dal and gram flour, millers are purchasing limited quantity of gram as per requirement. Due to which rising prices are not getting support. At present, there is a decline in the arrival of gram in the producing markets. Government procurement of gram is happening at a very slow pace. Till April 30, government procurement of gram was 97,013 metric tonnes. Out of which 45,062 metric tonnes were purchased by NAFED and 51,951 metric tonnes by NCCF. In the current Rabi season, gram production is also said to be less than the trade expectations. Strength can be seen in gram prices due to consumer support. Due to sluggish buying by dal millers, prices of Delhi gram witnessed a rise or fall of Rs. 50 per quintal during the current week and the prices remained stable at Madhya Pradesh line Rs. 5650/5675 and Rajasthan line Rs. 5750/5775 per quintal at the end of the week.
Port
Due to continued selling by importers and sluggish demand, no rise or fall was seen in the prices of imported gram during the current week and the prices remained stable at Tanzania Rs. 5600, Nava Seva Australia Rs. 5800 and Mundra Rs. 5700 per quintal at the end of the week.
Rajasthan
Due to sluggish demand from dal millers and stockists, Rajasthan gram prices declined by Rs. 25/50 per quintal this week and with this decline, the prices at the weekend remained at Jodhpur Rs. 4800/5225, Jaipur Rs. 5700, Bikaner Rs. 5300/5650, Kishangarh Rs. 5200/5330 and Kota Rs. 4500/5375 per quintal.
Maharashtra
Due to increased selling pressure and sluggish demand, Maharashtra gram prices declined by Rs. 50/100 per quintal during the current week and with this decline, the prices at the weekend remained at Solapur Rs. 5500/6000, Latur Rs. 5750/5900, Akola Rs. 5950/6025, Nagpur Rs. 6000/6025 and Ahmednagar Rs. 5300/5500 per quintal.
Madhya Pradesh
Due to increased selling and limited buying, prices of Madhya Pradesh gram witnessed a rise and fall of Rs. 50/75 per quintal this week and with this rise and fall, the prices remained at Ashoknagar Rs. 5500/5700, Ganjbasoda Rs. 5300/5500, Sagar Rs. 5400/5650, Katni Rs. 5900/5950 and Indore Rs. 5700/6000 per quintal at the weekend.
Others
Due to the impact of all-round fall and the demand remaining weak, prices of Raipur gram witnessed a fall of Rs. 50 per quintal during the current week and with this fall, the prices remained at Rs. 5950/6100 per quintal at the weekend. Whereas Kanpur gram improved by Rs. 25 per quintal this week and reached Rs. 5925 per quintal at the weekend.
Gram Dal
Due to the impact of fall in gram prices and sluggish demand, prices of gram dal have declined by Rs. 25/50 per quintal during the current week and the prices at the weekend remained at Delhi Rs. 6725/7250, Bhatapara Rs. 7100, Katni Rs. 7150, Gulbarga Rs. 6800/7100, Jalgaon Rs. 7000, Indore Rs. 7150/7250, Jaipur Rs. 6575 and Kanpur Rs. 6800/6900 per quintal.
