Hyderabad: The Chief Minister of Telangana—South India's most prominent paddy and rice-producing state—states that during the Rabi marketing season, Telangana alone contributes nearly 60 percent to the total paddy procurement conducted at the national level.

This season, the government has procured 63.65 lakh tonnes of paddy, and in payment for this, ₹11,903 crore has been deposited directly into the bank accounts of farmers.

According to the Chief Minister, even in areas where crops were damaged due to unseasonal rains and storms, the government stepped in to protect farmers from financial loss by procuring approximately 10,000 tonnes of wet paddy.

Currently, no other state in the country is in a position to rival Telangana in terms of paddy procurement. In Telangana, massive quantities of paddy are produced not only during the Kharif season but also during the Rabi (Yasangi) season.

According to official statistics, during the 2025-26 season, the gross food grain production in Telangana surged to a new record high of 236.87 lakh tonnes. The Telangana government is extending every form of support, assistance,

and incentive to farmers, resulting in a robust increase in the production of maize and cotton, alongside paddy, within the state. Telangana is a leading state in contributing rice to the Central Pool; government procurement of paddy takes place in the state during both seasons.
