Soymeal Exports Under Pressure Due to Higher Export Prices
★ According to the Solvent Extractors’ Association of India (SEA), 13.8 lakh tonnes of soymeal were exported from April to January, down 22% from last year.
★ January exports declined by 54% to just 1.32 lakh tonnes, indicating total exports of around 15 lakh tonnes for the current season, compared to 21 lakh tonnes last year.
★ Due to its non-GM nature, Indian soymeal prices usually remain higher than international markets, but the price gap is wider this year.
★ Soymeal prices in the Indian market have been affected by DDGS.
★ Availability of DDGS in India is increasing due to the B20 blending program, and DDGS prices are roughly half those of soymeal.
