Export Sales data released this morning showed old crop soybean sales at 141,940 metric tons for the week ending April 30. This marked the lowest level of the marketing year and was down 62.32% from the same week last year. China purchased 66,900 metric tons, including 66,000 metric tons switched from unknown destinations. Japan bought 48,600 metric tons, while Indonesia purchased 43,500 metric tons. New crop sales totaled 5,500 metric tons, all sold to Indonesia.
Soybean meal sales were reported at 335,749 metric tons, within the estimated range of 150,000 to 450,000 metric tons. Soybean oil bookings were only 954 metric tons, compared to expectations ranging from net reductions of 12,000 metric tons to net sales of 20,000 metric tons.
According to ANEC, Brazil’s soybean exports in May are estimated at 14.53 million metric tons, up 0.35 million metric tons from the previous estimate. Official trade ministry data showed Brazil exported 16.75 million metric tons of soybeans in April, an all-time monthly record and 9.66% higher year-over-year.
