Despite early discussions this week about easing tensions, crude oil prices ended the day higher by $2.52 after reports of explosions in Iran emerged late in the session.
According to the USDA Weekly Export Sales report, corn sales for the 2025/26 season totaled 1.362 million metric tons in the week ending April 30. This was lower than the previous week and down 18.1% from the same period last year. Taiwan was the largest buyer with 301,600 metric tons, followed by Colombia with 296,200 metric tons and South Korea with 281,900 metric tons. New crop sales totaled 122,778 metric tons, reaching the upper end of estimates ranging from 0 to 150,000 metric tons. Unknown destinations purchased 70,000 metric tons, while Mexico bought 49,600 metric tons.
Brazil exported 473,875 metric tons of corn in April. This was significantly higher than last year’s 178,347 metric tons but down 51.79% from March levels. AgroConsult estimated Brazil’s total corn crop at 140.5 million metric tons, with the second crop projected at 112.1 million metric tons, down 2.4 million metric tons from its previous estimate.
A South Korean importer purchased 132,000 metric tons of corn overnight, with the origin left optional.
