Pressure on International Sugar Prices
★ Global sugar prices have come under pressure due to higher sugar production in Brazil, which has increased overall availability in the world market.
★ In February 2025, international prices of raw sugar were around $445 per ton, but have now declined to about $313 per ton. At the same time, refined sugar prices have fallen from $532 per ton to $408 per ton.
★ The price spread between refined and raw sugar was $87 per ton in February 2025, which has now widened to $95 per ton.
★ Recently, the temporary rise in prices was mainly driven by geopolitical tensions and war-related factors.
