Pea Prices in Canada Remain Stable Amid Limited Trading Activity

Regina. Due to domestic and export demand remaining lower than usual, pea prices in Western Canadian markets have remained largely stable.
In the region's top-producing provinces—such as Saskatchewan and Alberta—pea sowing is set to commence shortly, and farmers are currently busy preparing their fields. The inflow of produce into the markets has become limited.
Typically, the price of yellow peas in Saskatchewan province has held steady at around $8.50 per bushel; however, in parts of Alberta, prices have reached as high as $9 per bushel.
The contract price for the upcoming new crop is reported to be ranging between $7 and $8 per bushel. Green peas—with a maximum tolerance of 3% for split grains—are currently trading at $10–$11 per bushel, while Maple peas are fetching prices between $11 and $12 per bushel.
In both Canada and the United States, the pea sowing season officially begins in April; however, intensive sowing typically takes place in May, with the new crop being harvested and arriving in the markets during August and September.
