Grain Market Daily Review – 9 April 2026
★ The grain market showed a mixed trend today. Wheat witnessed a mixed movement, while maize and rice prices remained steady.
~~~~~~
Wheat prices were as follows:
★ Shahjahanpur (UP): ₹2,100–2,290 per quintal (steady) | Arrivals: ~20,000 bags
★ Kota (Rajasthan):
★ Mill quality: ₹2,250–2,400 per quintal
★ Best quality: ₹2,500–2,700 per quintal (decline) | Arrivals: ~40,000 bags
★ In the wheat market, prices of average quality remained stable, while best-quality wheat declined in Kota due to a correction. Prices had risen over the past two days, mainly supported by strong procurement by the Food Corporation of India in Rajasthan, where the MSP stands at ₹2,585 per quintal.
★ Going forward, wheat prices are likely to remain volatile due to multiple factors: fear of lower-quality arrivals, pressure from government procurement, and ample availability in the market.
~~~~~~
Maize prices:
★ Gulabbagh (Bihar): ₹1,900–2,000 per quintal (steady)
★ In the maize market, arrivals of the new rabi crop have increased, and demand is keeping pace with supply, resulting in stable prices. Many traders and stockists are building inventory at the current relatively lower price levels.
★ Wheat may remain volatile in the near term, while maize is expected to continue trading with a stable tone.
