News Capsule: India's Cashew Market Supported by Festive Demand and Tight Global Supplies
★ India's cashew market is witnessing firm demand ahead of the festive season, keeping kernel prices steady to strong. Trade sources expect buying activity to remain robust over the next few weeks, providing continued support to the market.
★ Globally, supplies of raw cashew nuts (RCN) remain tight. The 2026 cashew season in West Africa is drawing to a close, with only leftover stocks available and traders focusing on clearing inventories from port warehouses. As a result, fresh supplies to the international market are becoming limited.
★ Although global production is expected to decline, the shortfall is now estimated at around 300,000 tonnes, lower than earlier expectations of 375,000–400,000 tonnes. Despite the decline, the 2026 crop is still projected to be the second-largest on record, after the 2025 season.
★ In Vietnam, high raw cashew nut prices and elevated transportation costs continue to support the market. Strong buying from China and the Middle East, particularly for larger kernel grades, is also keeping global prices firm.
★ In India, festive demand is driving steady purchases of cashew kernels. Popular kernel grades have recorded modest gains in some markets, while prices in other regions have remained stable. Trade participants expect the Indian cashew market to remain well supported in the near term, backed by strong domestic demand and limited global supplies.
