★ A fresh low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal, along with active tropical systems over the western Pacific and South China Sea, is keeping the monsoon active. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall across several parts of the country over the next six days.

★ The low-pressure area formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal on Sunday morning. At the same time, several tropical systems remain active over the South China Sea and western Pacific. Atmospheric disturbances generated by these systems are moving westward across Indochina towards the Bay of Bengal, strengthening the monsoon circulation.

★ According to the IMD, Odisha is likely to receive isolated very heavy rainfall during the next six days, while Chhattisgarh could experience heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places on Sunday.

★ In Northeast India, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, as well as Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, are likely to receive isolated heavy rainfall at times during the next six days.

★ In South India, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal could receive heavy rainfall on Monday and Tuesday. Kerala and Mahe, along with Telangana, are likely to experience isolated heavy rainfall for three days from Sunday. Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka could receive heavy rainfall on Sunday and Monday, while Coastal Andhra Pradesh may receive very heavy rainfall at isolated places on Sunday.

★ During the next six days, isolated to scattered rainfall is expected over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, and Telangana. North Interior Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka are likely to see similar conditions for three days from Tuesday.

★ The western side of the peninsula is expected to remain the wettest belt. Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is forecast over Coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe, and Lakshadweep during the next six days. North Interior Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka could also receive widespread rainfall for two days.

★ Central India is also expected to see increased rainfall activity. West Madhya Pradesh could receive isolated heavy rainfall for three days from Sunday, East Madhya Pradesh for four days, and Vidarbha on Sunday and Monday. Chhattisgarh is likely to receive heavy rainfall for five days from Monday.

★ In North India, Uttarakhand is likely to receive isolated heavy rainfall during the next six days. Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh could experience fairly widespread rainfall on Sunday, while Uttarakhand is expected to remain under fairly widespread to widespread rainfall for the next six days.

★ With successive systems developing over the Bay of Bengal and continued tropical activity over the western Pacific, the monsoon is likely to remain active across several parts of India this week.
