Sydney: Australian researchers have developed a small device that can help supercharge photosynthesis, potentially increasing the average yield of wheat and rice. Furthermore, this device will reduce the need for water for sowing and nitrogen for crop growth.
This tiny structure was jointly developed by researchers from the University of Sydney and the Australian National University.
The researchers conducted five years of continuous research to address the problem of more effective carbon fixation in plants and finally achieved their goal.
This device could prove to be very useful and beneficial for a country with a large population like India. Rice and wheat are cultivated on a vast area in India, but due to low average yields, the desired production is not achieved. This needs to be increased to global levels.
