ICE Cotton Futures rallied across most contracts on Wednesday, posting gains of 126 to 181 points. This came despite a less favorable external market environment — crude oil futures fell by $2.03 per barrel and the U.S. dollar index rose by $1.015 to 99.705.
The market was buoyed by speculation of easing trade tensions with China, although no official announcements have been made.
According to The Seam, 2,639 cash bales were sold online on April 22 at an average price of 66.93 cents per pound. The Cotlook A Index rose 50 points on Tuesday, reaching 78.10 cents per pound.
ICE cotton certified stocks remained unchanged at 14,478 bales as of April 22.
USDA’s Adjusted World Price (AWP) was up 33 points last Thursday to 53.43 cents per pound.
