International Cotton Market
ICE cotton futures fell by 17 to 47 points across most contracts on Tuesday. Crude oil prices climbed $3.70 per barrel, as futures added a risk premium amid reports of President Trump considering US involvement in the Iran/Israel conflict. The US Dollar Index was up $0.853 to 98.405.
The weekly Crop Progress report showed cotton condition ratings slipping by 1 point to 48% good to excellent. However, the Brugler500 index increased by 4 points to 328 due to a smaller share of the very poor category. Texas ratings rose by 8 points, while Georgia remained steady. Significant improvements were noted in Tennessee (+39), North Carolina (+22), and Mississippi (+11).
The Cotlook A Index was down 35 points on June 13 at 77.80. ICE certified cotton stocks were unchanged at 62,212 bales as of June 16. USDA’s Adjusted World Price (AWP) rose by 26 points last Thursday afternoon to 54.02 cents per pound.
