Export of Oilmeals (April–May 2025): Marginal 2% Growth – SEA Report
★ According to the Solvent Extractors’ Association of India (SEA), India exported 315,326 tons of oilmeals in May 2025, which is 4.31% higher than May 2024 exports of 302,280 tons.
★ In April 2025, exports stood at 465,863 tons, taking the total oilmeal exports during April–May 2025 to 781,189 tons. This is a marginal increase of 1.79% compared to 767,436 tons during the same period last year.

Monthly Performance – May 2025 vs April 2025 (in tons):
★ Soybean Meal: Down to 156,801 tons (from 230,743 tons in April)
★ Rapeseed Meal: Down to 134,562 tons (from 213,023 tons)
★ Groundnut Meal: Up to 5,315 tons (from 3,127 tons)
★ Castor Seed Meal: Slightly down to 18,648 tons (from 18,970 tons)

Soybean Meal – Rising Demand in African Nations
★ Soybean meal demand is rising across African countries due to increasing livestock production and its growing share in compound feed.
★ India exported over 118,000 tons of soybean meal to Middle Eastern and African countries during April–May 2025, primarily to Kenya and Kuwait.
★ In the financial year 2024–25, India had exported over 800,000 tons of soybean meal.

Rapeseed Meal – Supporting Domestic Prices
★ In the first two months of FY 2025–26, India exported around 350,000 tons of rapeseed meal. Major buyers included China, South Korea, Thailand, and Bangladesh.
★ In FY 2024–25, rapeseed meal exports stood at over 1.862 million tons.
★ Currently, the FOB price of Indian rapeseed meal at Kandla port is around US $200/ton, compared to US $290/ton for canola meal (rapeseed meal) from Hamburg, Germany.
★ This price differential gives India a strong export advantage and a growing market among consuming nations.
