According to Export Inspections data, corn shipments for the week ended February 5 totaled 1.308 million metric tons (51.49 million bushels). This was up 14.01% from the previous week but down 4.19% compared to the same week last year. Mexico was the top destination with 476,628 metric tons, followed by Japan at 187,063 metric tons and Colombia at 135,816 metric tons. Marketing year shipments have now reached 33.93 million metric tons (1.336 billion bushels), which is 46.72% higher year-on-year.
USDA’s WASDE report will be released on Tuesday. Traders are not expecting any major changes to the US ending stocks figure, with the average Bloomberg survey estimate at 2.215 billion bushels. Global figures are expected to see an update, with Brazil’s corn production estimated to rise by 1.3 million metric tons to 132.3 million metric tons.
According to AgRural, Brazil’s first corn crop is 15% harvested, ahead of last year’s pace of 19%. Planting of the second crop has reached 22%, slightly ahead of the 20% pace in 2025.
