India’s Spice Exports Cross 1.8 Million Tonnes
★ India’s spice exports crossed 1.8 million tonnes last year, valued at over $4 billion. The information was shared by former G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant at a conference held in Kochi.
★ He was inaugurating the four-day International Spice Conference (ISC 2026) organised by the All India Spices Exporters Forum.
Kant urged the industry to shift from bulk exports to high-value, branded, and technology-driven products. He outlined five key priorities for the sector: increasing value addition, adopting AI in cultivation and processing, promoting climate-resilient farming, focusing on sustainability and traceability, and placing small farmers at the centre of policy and market interventions.
