New Delhi: The Union Agriculture Minister has stated that the interests of the Indian agriculture and dairy sectors have been fully protected in the bilateral trade agreement with the United States, and no product that could be even slightly detrimental to Indian farmers has been included.

On the other hand, opposition parties claim that this agreement has sold out the Indian agriculture sector to the US. The reality seems to lie somewhere in between.

According to the Agriculture Minister, both countries reached this agreement through constructive dialogue, and every effort was made to fully safeguard the interests of the Indian agriculture sector. The Indian government gives the highest priority to the interests of the agriculture sector and farmers.

Meanwhile, the main opposition party has alleged that India has surrendered to the US through this treaty. It is noteworthy that the agreement includes special customs duty exemptions for imports of soybean oil, DDGS, red sorghum, and fruits and dry fruits from the US,

which could indirectly affect Indian producers. However, the Agriculture Minister stated that there was no "bargaining" in the trade deal and that the agreement is in the best interest of the country.

He said that this agreement between India and the US sends a message to the world that India's policy is based on commitment, not mere promises. The government makes decisions in the national interest with complete confidence.

According to the Agriculture Minister, this trade agreement fully reflects the "Nation First" diplomacy, the goal of making India a developed nation by 2024, and the dignity of farmers.

Efforts are being made to increase the Indian farmers' connection with the global market, and this process will continue.
