Guntur. Monsoon remains active in many other parts of the country as well as in the southern states and the red chilli business is being affected due to the continuing heavy rains in two major producing states - Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

The arrival of red chilli in Guntur of Andhra Pradesh and Warangal of Telangana has started decreasing and due to limited business, prices have remained stable to a great extent. Export demand is also not very strong.

A good stock is being reported in major consuming centers. In major producing markets, low quality goods are arriving more, due to which an atmosphere of rise in prices is not being created.

Disawari traders and dealers are facing difficulty in reaching the producing markets to buy red chilli.

There are reports of damage to the red chilli crop due to heavy rains and waterlogging in the fields in major producing districts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as well as Madhya Pradesh,

due to which its production may decrease. Less goods are coming to the markets. In the coming time,

there may be some improvement in the prices of red chilli when domestic and export demand picks up. Information about the sowing area and the actual condition of the crop can be available by the end of the current month. At present, the surplus rainfall in the producing states is being considered harmful for the red chilli crop.
