Gujarat estimates production of 42.19 lakh tons of groundnut in an area of 19.09 lakh hectares

Ahmedabad. In the country's most prominent groundnut producing state Gujarat, due to increase in sowing area and high average yield rate during Kharif season this year, there is a possibility of a great increase in the production of this important oilseed.
According to a survey report of Solvent Extractors Association of India (SIA), the sowing area of groundnut in Gujarat has increased from 16.35 lakh hectares last year to 19.09 lakh hectares this time, while its average yield rate is expected to improve from 2045 kg per hectare to 2210 kg per hectare.
On this basis, the total production of groundnut there has been estimated to jump from 33.45 lakh tons to 42.19 lakh hectares.
'C' has estimated the production of 3.92 lakh tonnes of peanuts in Amreli district of Gujarat, 2.14 lakh tonnes in Bhav Nagar, 4.78 lakh tonnes in Jamnagar, 5.43 lakh tonnes in Dwarka,
5.20 lakh tonnes in Junagadh, 2.10 lakh tonnes in Gir Somnath, 1.90 lakh tonnes in Porbandar, 5.36 lakh tonnes in Rajkot, 1.31 lakh tonnes in Morbi and 41 thousand tonnes in Surendranagar during the 2024-25 season.
Apart from this, production of 1.68 lakh tonnes of peanuts has been predicted in Kutch, 1.76 lakh tonnes in Sabarkantha, 1.31 lakh tonnes in Aravalli and 3.87 lakh tonnes in Banaskantha district, while production of 1.04 lakh tonnes has been expected in other districts.
