New Delhi: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved ₹1,718.56 crore for the Cotton Corporation of India under the Ministry of Textiles for the 2023–24 marketing season. The financial support is based on procurement carried out at the Minimum Support Price (MSP).

The Cotton Corporation of India plays a key role in procuring raw cotton from farmers across major producing states at MSP. Whenever market prices fall below MSP in wholesale mandis, the corporation steps in actively to support farmers.

Although CCI procures cotton from farmers and later sells it to traders and mills, it often incurs losses in the process. These losses are compensated by the government to ensure that farmers receive fair and remunerative prices and are protected from distress sales.

During the current 2025–26 marketing season (October–December), CCI has procured more than 10 million bales of cotton from farmers. The highest procurement has taken place in Telangana, Maharashtra, and Gujarat. Procurement has also been carried out in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, and Odisha.
