New Delhi. The Union Minister of Commerce and Industry is scheduled to hold an important meeting with export promotion councils and industry associations in New Delhi tomorrow, February 11, 2026, where the potential impact of the bilateral trade agreement with the United States and the European Union is expected to be discussed in detail.

Reviews say this meeting is expected to be crucial due to the lack of clarity on many issues under the trade agreement and the persisting uncertainty regarding the framework provisions.

The first phase of the bilateral trade agreement framework between India and the United States has been signed, but clarity remains lacking on many issues.

At the meeting, the Commerce Minister will attempt to address the concerns and doubts of the industry and trade sector. The United States has already announced a reduction in tariffs on Indian products from 25 percent to 18 percent, which is expected to improve exports from India. The United States has also eliminated the additional 25 percent punitive tariff imposed on imports of Indian goods.

It is noteworthy that Indian exporters have been eagerly awaiting a trade agreement with the United States, as the United States is a major export market for products from many labor-intensive sectors, including textiles, clothing, footwear, and gems and jewelry.

The imposition of a 50 percent customs duty in the United States has caused significant difficulties for Indian exporters. All export promotion councils have been invited to participate in the meeting on February 11th. It is hoped that this meeting will provide a clear picture.
