Patna. With the aim of developing infrastructure, promoting tourism, and ensuring agricultural progress, the Bihar Cabinet approved several key proposals. These include the development of six small airports in the state,

construction of a five-star hotel in Patna, purchase of pulses and oilseeds from farmers at Minimum Support Price (MSP), and the creation of new cadres for the Education Department. All proposals were approved in a single Cabinet meeting.

The six cities where airports will be developed and expanded are Muzaffarpur, Saharsa, Munger, Madhubani, Valmiki Nagar, and Veerpur.

In a significant step for farmers, the Bihar Cabinet has decided to procure pulses and oilseeds from farmers at MSP starting from the Rabi marketing season of 2025–26. The crops selected for procurement include gram,

lentil, and mustard. For the 2025–26 season, the MSP for gram has been set at Rs. 5650 per quintal, lentil at ₹6700 per quintal, and mustard at Rs. 5950 per quintal.

Although harvesting for these crops has already been completed in Bihar and much of the produce has arrived in the markets, farmers who still have stock can benefit from this decision.

This move is expected to help boost production and provide assured income to farmers. Gram, lentil, and mustard are widely cultivated during the Rabi season in Bihar, but farmers often struggle to secure favorable prices in the open market.
