Almonds: Imports Surge

A remarkable increase in almond imports has been recorded after a period of nine months. Notably, prior to this—in April 2025—1,454 containers were imported.

In contrast, imports in February 2025 totaled 1,310 containers, marking the highest volume of imports recorded in the last nine months. In February 2025, imports stood at merely 810 containers, whereas in January 2026, 1,234 containers were imported.

Despite the high volume of imports, prices for shelled almonds (badamgiri) remain firm in the spot market.

Currently, prices for shelled almonds in the Delhi market are being quoted at ₹835–840 per kilogram. Market sources suggest that imports are likely to decline during the month of March due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Consequently, stockists are reluctant to sell at lower prices.
