Wheat Prices Soften as New Crop Arrives
★ With the rapid arrival of the new wheat crop in mandis, prices have dropped to ₹2450–₹2600 per quintal, compared to around ₹3000 per quintal a month ago.  
★ Wheat arrivals have reached 13.5 million tonnes so far.  
★ The government has procured over 8.35 million tonnes of wheat at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) and is progressing towards its target of 31 million tonnes.  
★ Higher production and better quality are expected to help ease inflation pressures.  
★ The agriculture ministry has estimated a record wheat output of 115.3 million tonnes for the 2024–25 crop year.  
★ The Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan governments have announced bonus payments of ₹175 and ₹150 per quintal respectively over the MSP.  
★ To control market prices, the government has also asked traders to submit weekly stock details.
