The USDA WASDE report released this morning showed no changes to the U.S. wheat balance sheet, with U.S. stocks maintained at 931 million bushels. However, the U.S. average cash price was raised by 5 cents to $4.95 per bushel.
Globally, wheat ending stocks were reduced by 0.55 MMT to 276.96 MMT. Argentina’s stocks were lowered by 1 MMT due to higher export projections. Russian exports were trimmed by 0.5 MMT, and EU exports were reduced by 1 MMT, which was shifted to a 1 MMT increase in feed demand.
The state Crop Progress report from Kansas showed winter wheat conditions declining, with the good/excellent category falling by 2 percentage points to 56%. The Brugler500 index fell 5 points to 348.
According to the European Commission, EU soft wheat exports from July 1 to March 8 totaled 16.5 MMT, which is 1.4 MMT higher than the same period last year. Meanwhile, Algeria purchased an estimated 200,000 MT of wheat on Tuesday.
