According to the Commitment of Traders report released Friday, as of January 27 managed money reduced its net short position in Chicago wheat futures and options by 15,957 contracts, bringing the total net short to 94,743 contracts. In Kansas City wheat, speculative traders trimmed 2,689 contracts from their net short position, leaving it at 10,329 contracts.
Export Sales data shows cumulative wheat export commitments at 21.595 million metric tons, which is 18% higher than the same week last year. This represents 88% of the USDA’s forecast and is roughly in line with the 89% average sales pace.
