New Delhi. Tur prices trended upwards during the current week, driven by weak arrivals in producing markets and strong demand. Limited market availability has spurred buyer activity, providing support to prices. In Karnataka, a major Tur-producing state, 101 talukas have been declared drought-affected. Due to a weak monsoon, Tur production in the state is projected to decline by approximately 30 percent this year. Anticipating lower production and facing weak arrivals, stockists are selling slowly, further restricting market availability. If arrivals in producing markets remain low and demand stays strong in the coming days, the upward trend in Tur prices is likely to continue. Prices of African Tur in Mumbai rose by ₹200–250 per quintal over the week due to reduced selling by importers and increased demand. By the weekend, prices stood at ₹6,300–6,450 per quintal for Mozambique White, ₹6,250–6,300 for Gajari, ₹6,000–6,050 for Matwara, ₹5,800–6,000 for Malawi, and ₹8,400 for Sudan varieties. Similarly, prices for Lemon Tur in Chennai improved by ₹100 per quintal, reaching ₹8,000 per quintal by the weekend.

Driven by a rise in market rates and improved demand, prices for 'Lemon' Tur and 'Desi' Tur in Delhi rose by ₹100 and ₹150 per quintal, respectively, during the week. By the weekend, rates stood at ₹8,300 per quintal for 'Lemon' Tur and ₹8,600–₹8,650 per quintal for 'Desi' Tur.

Due to subdued selling by stockists and sustained demand from pulse millers, Maharashtra Tur prices increased by ₹150–₹250 per quintal this week. By the weekend, prices were: Solapur ₹7,400–₹8,500, Akola ₹8,550–₹8,600, Latur ₹8,150–₹8,200, Nagpur ₹8,600–₹8,650, Barshi ₹7,500–₹8,000, Hinganghat ₹7,800–₹8,800, and Ahmednagar ₹8,000–₹8,200 per quintal.

With selling pressure remaining low and buying interest improving, Karnataka Tur prices rose by ₹100 per quintal during the week. By the weekend, prices stood at: Gulbarga ₹7,800–₹8,850, Raichur ₹7,000–₹8,019, Bidar ₹7,622–₹8,466, and Talikot ₹7,015–₹8,059 per quintal.

Increased buying by pulse millers led to a rise of ₹150 per quintal in Madhya Pradesh Tur prices this week. By the weekend, prices were: Katni ₹8,600–₹8,700, Jabalpur ₹5,000–₹7,200, Pipariya ₹5,500–₹7,400, and Kareli ₹5,790–₹7,512 per quintal.

Supported by a broad-based rally and improved demand, prices for Raipur Tur rose by ₹100 per quintal this week, reaching ₹8,600–₹8,850 per quintal by the weekend. Kanpur Tur prices also saw an increase of ₹50 per quintal, settling at ₹7,400 per quintal at the end of the week.

Driven by the rally in Tur prices and improved demand, Tur Dal prices rose by ₹150–₹300 per quintal during the week. By the weekend, prices stood at: Delhi Phatka ₹12,000–₹12,500, Katni Phatka ₹11,600–₹11,800, Akola ₹11,300–₹12,700, Latur Phatka ₹12,300–₹12,500, Gulbarga Phatka ₹11,600–₹12,700, and Kanpur Phatka ₹11,800–₹11,900 per quintal.
