Turvar prices fall due to sluggish demand

Mumbai. The turvar market continued its downward trend during the current week. Turvar prices remained weak due to increased selling pressure and sluggish demand. Due to a lack of offtake of turvar dal, buying by dal millers has also been limited, putting additional pressure on prices. New turvar has begun arriving in the markets of Karnataka and Maharashtra, but unseasonal rains have significantly damaged the crop. The rain-affected crop is preventing the increase in new turvar arrivals. According to traders, the arrival of new turvar so far this year is significantly lower than last year. Given the weak harvest and supply shortages, there are growing fears of a decline in domestic turvar production.
