Limited change in peanut prices amid normal trading
New Delhi. Although limited arrival of peanuts is happening in the wholesale markets of top producing states like Gujarat, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, no significant change is being seen in the prices due to weak demand from traders and millers.
Sowing / Production
The sowing of Kharif peanuts has almost been completed and its production area is lagging behind the sowing area of last year and the five-year average area.
During the week of August 16 to 22, there was almost peace in the markets of Gujarat and there was no special movement in Rajasthan and Maharashtra, due to which the price of peanuts remained stable at Rs 5300 per quintal in Bikaner and Rs 6500 per quintal in Solpur.
Uttar Pradesh
In Jhansi Mandi of Uttar Pradesh, due to some trading between the average daily arrival of 1000-2000 bags, the price of peanuts improved by Rs 100 and reached Rs 4400/4900 per quintal, but in Mahoba Mandi, despite the supply of 425/450 bags, due to weak demand from buyers, the price fell by Rs 125 to Rs 4500/4850 per quintal. In Mauranipur Mandi, there was a daily arrival of 450-550 bags of peanuts and the price remained almost stable.
Peanut Seeds
The business of peeled peanut seeds remained sluggish, due to which there was no change in prices. In Bikaner, the price of 40/50 count was seen stable at Rs 9000 per quintal, 50/60 count at Rs 8600 and 60/70 count at Rs 8300 per quintal. In this, the demand of crushers-processors as well as exporters also remained somewhat weak. Similarly, in Nagpur, Maharashtra, the price of 50/60 count remained at Rs 10200 per quintal and the price of 60/70 count remained at Rs 9600 per quintal.
Groundnut oil
Purchasing of groundnut oil in loose form decreased, so its price fell by Rs 25 to Rs 1350 per 10 kg in Rajkot, Gondal, Junagadh and Jamnagar of Gujarat. Its price also fell by Rs 10 each in Ahmedabad, Bikaner and Newai / Tonk.
Branded oil
The price of branded groundnut oil remained stable at Rs 2400 per tin (15 liters) in Kota, while the prices of filtered groundnut oil softened in Jaipur and Newai.
Groundnut oil cake
Due to no significant business in groundnut oil cake and DOC, prices remained stable.
