Gram prices fall due to weak demand
New Delhi. The current week, a bearish trend has been seen in the gram market. Due to lack of customer support and weak buying by dal millers, there is pressure on the prices of gram. The demand for pulses and gram flour also remains limited, due to which there is no increase in purchases in the market. There has been a softening in the prices of gram in the international market as well. Exporters have cut prices to remain competitive and have offered gram at cheaper prices from Australia and Tanzania. Due to this, the prices of imported gram have also declined by 10/15 dollars per tonne. There may be some improvement in demand in the upcoming festive season, which may provide stability to the market. Due to sluggish demand from dal millers, prices of Delhi gram declined by Rs. 75/100 per quintal during the current week and with this decline, the prices of Madhya Pradesh line became Rs. 6100/6125 and Rajasthan line Rs. 6175/6200 per quintal at the weekend.
Port
Due to increased selling by importers and weak demand, prices of imported gram declined by Rs. 75/125 per quintal this week. And with this decline, the prices remained at Mumbai Tanzania Rs. 6000/6025, Nawasheva Australia Rs. 6125 and Mundra Rs. 5925/5950 per quintal.
Rajasthan
Due to sluggish demand from dal millers and stockists, Rajasthan gram prices witnessed a decline of Rs. 100/200 per quintal this week and with this decline, the prices at the weekend remained at Jodhpur Rs. 5300/5750, Jaipur Rs. 6125, Bikaner Rs. 5700/5800, Kishangarh Rs. 5700/5800 and Kota Rs. 5000/5500 per quintal.
Maharashtra
Due to increased selling pressure at higher prices and sluggish buying, Maharashtra gram prices witnessed a decline of Rs. 100/150 per quintal during the current week and with this decline, the prices at the weekend remained at Solapur Rs. 5800/6500, Latur Rs. 6000/6025, Akola Rs. 6275/6300, Nagpur Rs. 6275/6300 and Ahmednagar Rs. 5850/6050 per quintal.
Madhya Pradesh
Due to weak buying, prices of Madhya Pradesh gram declined by Rs. 100/150 per quintal this week and with this decline, the prices remained at Ashoknagar Rs. 5700/5900, Ganjbasoda Rs. 5500/5800, Sagar Rs. 5400/5700, Katni Rs. 6100/6150 and Indore Rs. 6050/6300 per quintal.
Others
Due to the impact of all-round decline and weak demand, prices of Kanpur gram declined by Rs. 150 per quintal last week and with this decline, the prices remained at Rs. 6150 per quintal at the end of the week. While prices of Raipur gram declined by Rs. 100 per quintal this week and remained at Rs. 6000/6250 per quintal at the end of the weekend.
Gram Dal
Due to the fall in prices of gram and sluggish demand, prices of gram dal declined by Rs. 100/200 per quintal during the last week and with this fall, the prices at the weekend remained at Delhi Rs. 7250/7600, Bhatapara Rs. 7500/7650, Katni Rs. 7500, Gulbarga Rs. 7600/7800, Jalgaon Rs. 7700/8100, Indore Rs. 7500/7600, Jaipur Rs. 7025 and Kanpur Rs. 7000/7050 per quintal.
