Peanut prices almost stable amid limited trading

Peanut Prices:

During the week of January 11-17, peanut prices remained largely stable due to limited demand despite a good supply across several regions. Key areas such as Rajkot (Gujarat), Jhansi, and Mahoba (Uttar Pradesh) saw average daily arrivals of peanuts, with Rajkot receiving 15-20 thousand bags, Jhansi 20 thousand, Mahoba 6-9 thousand, and Mauranipur 4500-5500 bags. The arrival in Mauranipur decreased after January 11 when farmers were unsatisfied with the offered prices.

  • Price Trends:
    • Gujarat: Prices remained stable.
    • Solapur (Maharashtra): Prices increased by Rs 200 to Rs 6700 per quintal.
    • Mauranipur: Prices fell by Rs 100 to Rs 4000-4300 per quintal.

Peanut Seeds:
Trading in shelled peanut seeds was limited, with weak demand from exporters and minimal interest from crushing-processing units. In Jaipur, the price of 60/70 count seeds fell by Rs 100 to Rs 7200 per quintal.

Peanut Oil:
The demand for peanut oil saw a slight improvement, particularly due to lower prices, leading to price increases in several regions:

  • Rajkot, Gondal, Junagadh, Jamnagar: Prices increased by Rs 25 to Rs 1400 per 10 kg.
  • Bikaner, Newai-Tonk, Chennai, Hyderabad: Prices rose by Rs 10.
Branded and filtered peanut oil prices remained stable or increased by Rs 25-50.

Summary:
Peanut prices saw minimal fluctuation during the week due to weak demand, with some regional variations in pricing. While peanut seed prices dropped in Jaipur, peanut oil prices rose due to improved demand at lower price points.
