Paddy-rice prices strengthened due to buying by millers and exporters
It seems like the paddy-rice market had some ups and downs this week, with some mixed signals across different regions.
Millers and exporters showing interest helped boost prices, especially for Basmati rice, as there's strong demand in Gulf countries ahead of Ramadan. That demand has helped to stabilize prices despite some fluctuations in different markets.
In Delhi, the prices of 1509 and 1718 varieties dropped slightly due to a good supply, but 1121 variety saw a rise. Chhattisgarh also saw a stable market, while in Uttar Pradesh, there were some declines in certain mandis, particularly for the 1509 and 1718 varieties.
The situation in the rice market is looking positive, though, especially with India’s rice exports at a record high in 2024 and expectations that this trend will continue in 2025.
What do you think about the outlook for the rice market in the next few months? Do you expect any major shifts based on these trends?
