Mixed Trend in Groundnut Market Reflects Supply-Demand Dynamics

New Delhi: In Gujarat—the leading groundnut-producing state—prices in the Rajkot market declined by ₹1,000 during the week of March 21–27, settling in the range of ₹8,000–₹10,000 per quintal amidst daily arrivals of 9,000–10,000 bags. Similarly, in Solapur, Maharashtra, prices dropped by ₹400 to reach ₹8,800 per quintal. While prices remained stable at ₹7,300 in Bikaner, Rajasthan, they rose by ₹200 in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh—reaching ₹6,400–₹7,400 per quintal—and improved by ₹100 in Mahoba, reaching ₹6,200–₹6,900 per quintal. Arrivals in the *mandis* (wholesale markets) have begun to decline.
Groundnut Kernels
Demand for groundnut kernels (with shells) remained weak, resulting in a recorded price decline ranging from ₹500 to ₹1,500 per quintal.
Groundnut Oil
Trading in loose groundnut oil remained sluggish with prices holding steady; however, marginal improvements of ₹1–₹2 per kilogram were observed in select locations.
Branded Oil
In Kota, the price of branded groundnut oil remained stable at ₹2,950 per tin (15 liters); however, limited buying activity in filtered groundnut oil led to a price increase of ₹4–₹6 per kilogram. Trading activity in groundnut oil and De-oiled Cake (DOC) also remained subdued.
