Increased Arrivals of New Stock – Mixed Trend in Prices
New Delhi. The harvesting and preparation of the Kharif-season groundnut crop are underway in major producing states—including Gujarat, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra—with new stock beginning to arrive in the agricultural markets (mandis). This has exerted some pressure on prices.
Prices
While the market had shown some strength in recent weeks, prices declined during the week of October 31 to November 5: they fell by Rs 300 per quintal in Solapur (Maharashtra) and by Rs 1,000 per quintal in Jhansi (Uttar Pradesh). In the same region, prices in the Mahoba mandi softened by Rs 100, whereas Mauranipur recorded an increase of Rs 500 per quintal. Prices remained stable in Rajkot (Gujarat) and Bikaner (Rajasthan).
Arrivals
Average daily arrivals of groundnuts were recorded as follows: 15,000–20,000 bags in Rajkot, 37,500 bags in Jhansi, 10,000 bags in Mahoba, and 15,000 bags in Mauranipur.
Groundnut Kernels
A mixed trend was observed in the prices of shelled groundnut kernels. Prices rose by Rs 200 per quintal in both Bikaner and Solapur, while they softened by Rs 200–300 per quintal in Nagpur.
Groundnut Oil
There was robust trading in loose groundnut oil, leading to a price increase of Rs 50 across various centers in Gujarat, reaching Rs 1,800 per 10 kg. The price for a 15-kg tin of groundnut oil stood at Rs 2,800.
Branded Oil
In Kota, the price of branded groundnut oil remained steady at ₹2,950 per tin (15 litres), while in Jaipur and Newai, prices for filtered groundnut oil saw an increase of ₹20–30. Groundnut arrivals in various agricultural markets (mandis) are expected to rise in the coming period.
