New Delhi. The Meteorological Department has said that during the next five days, strong winds of 30-40 kmph will blow in many parts of Bihar, Jharkhand and Gangetic region of West Bengal, light to moderate rain will occur and thundershowers will occur at some places.
Apart from this, normal rain may occur in Chhattisgarh, Orissa, Vidarbha, Marathwada, Madhya Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. Similar weather will prevail in Konkan and Goa.
The intensity of heat wave will decrease in the northwestern and eastern parts of the country, but its effect may continue for the next four-five days.
The second boundary will also include Orissa, Bihar, Konkan Goa and Gangetic region of West Bengal. On June 2, the highest temperature in the country was recorded at 45.4 degrees Celsius in Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan, while on the same day, heavy to very heavy rains were recorded in northern interior Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Telangana, Orissa, Assam, Meghalaya and adjoining areas.
Monsoon is continuously advancing in the southern states, which is giving relief to the farmers as well as the provincial governments.
Earlier in South India, due to lack of good rains for a long time and high temperatures, about half a dozen dams and reservoirs had dried up completely, while the water level in other lakes also decreased to a worrying level. But now the situation is expected to improve significantly due to monsoon rains.
Monsoon rains are bringing sufficient moisture in the soil of the fields, which will help in starting the sowing of Kharif crops early. Monsoon has also become active in most areas of Maharashtra.
