U.S. Corn Exports Increase
★ According to the USDA, during the week ending March 5, export sales from the U.S. totaled 1.53 million tons of old-crop corn and 500 tons of new-crop corn.
★ These exports were 58% higher than the same period last year. Japan purchased the largest quantity at 670,000 tons, followed by Mexico with 367,000 tons, and South Korea with 210,000 tons.
★ According to the Census report, the U.S. exported 5.6 million tons of corn in January, which is the largest monthly export on record so far.
★ Distillery companies made their highest January purchases in the last four years, buying 1 million tons, which helped ethanol shipments reach a record 212 million barrels.
