Total exports from the country increased by 6.03 percent during April-December

The Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry has reported a 6.03% increase in the total exports of commercial goods and services from India during the period of April to December 2024. The total export value reached $602.64 billion, up from $568.36 billion in the same period of 2023.
Exports of merchandise saw a modest increase of 1.6%, rising from $316.65 billion to $321.71 billion.
Non-petroleum product exports also showed growth, with December 2024 exports amounting to $33.09 billion, a 5.05% increase compared to December 2023.
In total, non-petroleum exports for the April-December 2024 period increased by 7.05%, reaching $272.70 billion.
Other commercial goods, excluding petroleum products and jewelry, also performed well, with exports growing by 8.25%, from $28.60 billion in December 2023 to $30.96 billion in December 2024.
Specific sectors like electronic goods, engineering products, rice, textiles, cotton yarn, and handloom products contributed significantly to the export growth.
Notably, rice exports surged by 64.03%, from $870 million in December 2023 to $1.43 billion in December 2024.
Despite these positive trends in exports, imports also rose by 6.40%, reaching $77.44 billion. In total, December 2024 exports were valued at $70.67 billion, about 1% higher than the previous year.
