According to NASS’s weekly Crop Progress report, as of August 23, 91% of the US soybean crop had set pods, while 6% had begun dropping leaves. Crop condition ratings fell 1% to 60% good to excellent. The Brugler500 index declined by 4 points to 357.

According to USDA’s FGIS report, US soybean export shipments totaled 420,895 metric tons during the week ending August 20. This was 43% higher than the previous week and 6.9% above the same week last year. Egypt was the largest destination at 116,966 metric tons, followed by Indonesia with 71,630 metric tons and Italy with 60,643 metric tons. Total soybean exports for the 2025/26 marketing year have reached 40.48 million metric tons, which is 17.9% below the same period last year.

Pressure on soybean oil came from reports that the EPA is planning to extend the September 1 compliance deadline for refiners by 30 to 90 days.

The US is reportedly set to impose an additional 7.5% tariff on Chinese imports, citing concerns over China’s excess manufacturing capacity. President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping are expected to meet next month.

Following last week’s Crop Tour, Pro Farmer estimated the US national soybean yield at 53.3 bushels per acre, with total production estimated at 4.572 billion bushels.
