According to the weekly Crop Progress report, as of August 23, 86% of the US corn crop had reached the dough stage, while 45% had reached the dent stage and 6% was listed as mature. Crop condition ratings fell 3% to 47% good to excellent. The Brugler500 index also declined by 5 points to 348.

According to Monday’s Export Inspections report, US corn shipments totaled 1.296 million metric tons during the week ending August 20. This was down 33.32% from the previous week and 3.16% below the same week last year. Mexico was the largest destination at 387,748 metric tons, followed by Japan with 306,842 metric tons and Colombia with 101,360 metric tons. Total corn exports for the marketing year have reached 82.28 million metric tons, 25.51% above the same period last year, with just over a week remaining in the marketing year.

Following last week’s Crop Tour, Pro Farmer estimated the US national corn yield at 173.2 bushels per acre, with total production estimated at 15.344 billion bushels.

According to AgRural, 92% of the 2025/26 second corn crop has been harvested. This remains behind the five-year average pace of 98%. Planting of the first corn crop for 2026/27 was estimated at 2% complete, also behind last year’s pace of 3.2%.
