Sharp 83% Drop in Soymeal Exports in July

Indore: According to a report by the Soybean Processors Association of India (SOPA), India's soymeal exports plummeted by approximately 83% to 25,000 tonnes in July 2026 compared to July 2025.

Similarly, total soymeal exports from the country between October 2025 and July 2026 stood at only 9.72 lakh tonnes, marking a 43% decline compared to shipments during the same period of the 2024-25 marketing season. Compared to the previous year, soymeal production recorded a drop of over 11% in July and a decline of nearly 7% during the October-July period.

The SOPA report indicates that soybean arrivals at wholesale markets nationwide fell by about 15%—dropping from 6 lakh tonnes in July 2025 to 5 lakh tonnes in July 2026. The market is currently in the soybean supply "off-season." During this period, the volume of soybean crushing also decreased from 9 lakh tonnes to 8 lakh tonnes. Arrivals of the new soybean crop are expected to gain momentum after mid-September.

With wholesale market prices remaining high and attractive, farmers may attempt to bring the new crop to market as early as possible. Sowing operations have largely concluded, with the total acreage slightly trailing that of the previous year. Between October 2025 and July 2026, soybean arrivals at markets totaled 82.50 lakh tonnes, while 89.50 lakh tonnes were crushed (including carry-over stocks).
